About Lilly and Tom, owners of Yacht MIZ MAE and
International Yacht Services Ltd, Whangarei, NZ
Tom is born in Kiel, Germany , where he sailed until the age of 21, then moved to Sweden
for 12 years. He quit working for Volvo Transport and TNT Express in 1993, went on a 2
year cruise from Sweden to NZ and changed the smaller Bavaria 42 to the bigger 60 ft
Yacht MIZ MAE in 1995 which was run first as dive and adventure charters in Vanuatu and
later all around the world
A normal year would see MIZ MAE with guest on board for about 8 months and another 4
months tucked safely away from the hurricanes enjoying her yearly face lift. We have
made sure to update the boat to a maximum standard of safety and comfort over the
years passed. Every country around the world has it´s specialities and we have learnt to
buy the best material and bring it to wherever the boat happens to be. Upholstery from
the UK, sails from NZ, electrics from Germany, outboard from the USA, the list goes on.
After 13 years of circumnavigation and more than 100.000 miles we have settled in
beautiful NZ. This country offers absolutely every thing to the cruising sailor.
With a background in world wide transport and material control, MIZ MAE´s crew of Lilly
and Tom have never taken any short cuts when it came to buying big brand names,
proven material and repairable items. We know that it can get rough and difficult very
